Terrorism is basically understood as the use of threat or violence to further a political cause. There is no as such universally agreed definition available. Although the acts of terrorism across the globe have increased noticeably in recent decades, in most parts of the world it continues to be a comparatively uncommon event and rather is focused in specific regions or countries of unsteadiness.

James Feldkamp: The well-known teacher in domestic and international terrorism courses

Terrorism can be of two types such as domestic and international terrorism. Domestic terrorism comprises acts of fear which are carried out by individuals who are based in and work from the United States. In addition, the labors of a domestic terrorist are only aimed to the United States. On the other hand, international terrorism is a form of terrorism which involves acts of fear carried out by persons allied with overseas countries. The labors of international terrorism is usually to further a social or political objective.

James Feldkamp is a Commander, USN Retired who at present is associated as a professor at Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security and George Mason University where he teaches the lessons in domestic and international terrorism. He has more than twenty years of Federal government and military experience and specializes in foreign policy and international security policy initiatives. He is well-known for leading a successful international outreach and coordination initiative to enhance maritime security and maritime domain awareness (MDA).

In addition, James has more than ten years of experience of teaching at the university level covering topics related to terrorism, international security, trans-national crimes and counter-terrorism. Feldkamp is a skilled speaker, trainer, and subject matter expert on global security on terrorism and counter-terrorism trends. He has been invited to lecture at more than twenty five major international symposiums and conferences. He has also been the editor and the author of the book, ‘Theory and Politics of Terrorism’ which is actually a comprehensive examination of the various aspects of terrorism. The book inspects the occurrence of terrorism by looking at the concepts and causes behind it, in addition to the roles of public relations, religion, and politics.

James Feldkamp, is an M.A. degree holder in international affairs from the Catholic University of America and is a graduate of the Naval War College. Feldkamp in the year 1991 take off to fight missions off the aircraft carrier. Post associating with the U.S. Naval Reserves, James Feldkamp served for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent and an establishing member of the Joint Counter Terrorism Task Force which is located in Norfolk, Virginia.  Later on, he put down his resignation from the FBI to turn out to be the Republican contender for District 4 Congressional seat in Oregon during the 2004 and 2006 voting phase.

He has been summoned up to active duty in 2007, when he assisted set up the global outreach branch for the predecessor office of NMIO. In this capacity, he has been liable for the synchronization of all international and domestic non-classified information sharing. This helps in increasing maritime safety and maritime area alertness.
